SHREWSBURY, Mass. - The Shrewsbury Post 397 Legion baseball team beat Rhode Island 4-2 to capture the Northeast Regional Championship. Post 397 now heads to Shelby, North Carolina and the Legion World Series.
Shrewsbury got another stellar preformance from tourney MVP A.J. Hamm, ridiculous play from Zach Amero who was a vacum at first base all tournament long and saved his best game for the Championship, making unreal plays including a spectacular diving stop. Amero, one of the captains along with Ryan Sande, also scored 2 runs.
Ryan Walton was a stud at the plate going 2-3 with an RBI. Pat McManus was his usual all-star self behind the plate. Brady Shea started and pitched 5 innings allowing just 2 runs (1 earned) and Sande came out of the bullpen in the 6th and shut the door. Now it's onto the World Series.
