Hello and welcome to the Chad version of Prospect Notes, which will definitely happen at least … uh, this once. What does it mean that I’m doing it? Well, honestly, it’ll be shittier, but I still wanted to highlight some prospect performances.

I know, I know, where’s Josh? Well, he’s prioritizing the upcoming addition to his family over this site. Can you believe it?! Seriously though, he’ll still be around, just less often.

Anyway, let’s get to it.

Emmet Sheehan continues to dominate High-A, lowering his ERA to 3.14 on the year with his latest outing. Of course, it’s not even the ERA that’s impressive, but the 76 strikeouts in 48.2 innings. In 10 games since June 15, he has a 1.13 ERA and the 22-year-old 6th-rounder from the 2021 Draft has to be knocking on the AA door in 2023.

Emmet Sheehan had another really strong outing for Great Lakes, the fastball was up to 99 today (radar on the scorebug is ~2 mph light), and he picked up strikeouts with all three secondaries as well. The line: 5.0 IP 2 hits 1 run (unearned) 3 BBs 9 Ks⬇️ pic.twitter.com/8Gan5YaXcw

LAD RHP Emmet Sheehan was mostly 95-97 but did hit 98 and 99 a few times. Everything was working for him today. CH was carving, CB was getting whiffs, SL was effective. Very impressive day. https://t.co/GwLYdbyWkI

The Dodgers top pitching prospect Bobby Miller has had a bit of an up-and-down year, as evidenced by the 4.84 ERA in AA even though he’s already 23. There has to be some concern with that, but given the lost season in 2020 and his upper echelon stuff, it’s easy to believe in him. After giving up six runs and getting just four outs last time out, he showed why he’s still highly touted in his latest start.

Bobby Miller matched a career high in Ks as he tossed his 4th quality start of the season for Tulsa. The slider was on point tonight, and he held his velo throughout, with his 90th pitch of the night clocking in at 99 ⛽️ The line: 6.0 IP 5 hits 3 runs (earned) 0 BBs 11 Ks⬇️ pic.twitter.com/D0K2WpGNZv

With most of the hype going to others in the system, Andy Pages has had a quietly productive age-21 season in AA, putting up a .241/.350/.474/.824 line. He’s maintaining the power and patience, and has plenty of time to adjust further.

Dalton Rushing was the first pick of the Dodgers in the 2022 Draft, and he looks sharp early, posting a .316/.435/.526/.961 line so far in his pro debut that’s mostly been at A-ball. Below one can see a double, though only barely through what seems like a perpetual fog.

Diego Cartaya is still in the Dodgers system, and he looks more promising by the day, recently going 3-for-3 with a walk, double, and homer, finishing a triple shy. He’s only 20, but he has a .270/.399/.493/.892 line at High-A and is pretty obviously going to get a taste of advanced pitching in 2023.

Here's a nice piece of hitting from Diego Cartaya, he lined a fastball away into the right field corner for a double pic.twitter.com/O80PvEaBq8

Diego Cartaya tied it up for Great Lakes in the bottom of the 8th with his 9th homer as a Loon, it's his 18th of the season overall. The ball left the bat at 100 mph, and it traveled 408' pic.twitter.com/XV1KaOYGDt

Oh hey, remember that guy the Dodgers traded for from the Blue Jays in what looked like a confusing deal initially? Well, Nick Frasso made his Dodgers debut and showcased the promise that made the Dodgers take a chance.

Nick Frasso's debut in the Dodger org was a success, and he definitely flashed the stuff that led to him being targeted in the first place. The fastball sat 96-97, and the slider looks legit. The line: 3.0 IP 2 hits 0 runs 0 BBs 4 Ks⬇️ pic.twitter.com/3uuI9uxX6t

Ending things with a play that ended the game, here’s Leonel Valera walking things off in AA. As mentioned in the tweet, he actually struggled in High-A in his age-22 season, posting a .654 OPS in his second shot at it, but has excelled in AA.

Leonel Valera just hit the 2nd walk-off of the night in the Dodgers Minor League system, this time it was a Big Fly! Great Moment! Valera is hitting .295 since being called up to AA on May 31st with an OPS of .824! #dodgers pic.twitter.com/lD1TDRbdfg
