The 247Sports team of college basketball evaluatorsfinalized the Class of 2022 rankings. Arkansas' combo guard Nick Smith leapfrogged three Duke recruits to earn the label as the No. 1 player in the country. That means we can finalize the Class of 2022 recruiting team rankings. To no one's surprise, Duke and Arkansas absolutely killed it in the high school recruiting trail.
No coaching staff is feeling like now is the time they can rest. The transfer portal still has another wave, but recruiting the Class of 2022 is basically finished.
The end of the prep 2022 recruiting cycle can really help us put a bow on everything. Coaches would tell you that recruiting rankings go out the window when the freshmen get on campus and preseason workouts begin. But we can get one last look at which teams crushed it on the trail in this cycle because in recruiting, momentum is everything.

Here are the top 10 teams in the final Class of 2022 team recruiting rankings.
Duke might not have the No. 1 player in the Class of 2022 anymore, but it still holds a firm grip atop the Class of 2022 rankings. Duke has the top-rated recruiting class due to its starpower and depth. Dereck Lively II (No. 2), Dariq Whitehead (No. 3) and Kyle Filipowski (No. 4) and Mark Mitchell (No. 12) are slam-dunk, 5-star prospects. Four-star sharpshooter Jaden Schutt and 7-foot-1 Oak Hill Academy center Christian Reeves round out the star-studded class. Jon Scheyer has absolutely killed it.
Lively was circled as the best shot-blocker in the Class of 2022, according to 247Sports' Kevin Flaherty.
"Lively is 7-foot-1 with a 7-8 wingspan and the athleticism to get off the floor quickly and meet shots well above the rim," Flaherty writes. "Even though he needs to continue to fill out his body, he should provide instant rim protection for the Blue Devils. Offensively, Lively has some comfort level stepping away from the basket at times, and that should eventually make for a modern-day center who can win on the outside and potentially stretch the floor. Lively has terrific upside."
Eric Musselman is making history. The Arkansas coach now has landed the Hogs' first-ever No. 1 recruit in the country. Superstar guard Nick Smith was unanimously elevated to the top spot in 247Sports' Class of 2022 rankings.
"Smith has great quickness, but is able to manipulate defenders with his handle and changes of speed," Flaherty writes. " And he can score at all three levels, thanks to an understanding of how to get to his shot and great body control at the rim that could see him stack up the free throw attempts at times in college. Smith continued to prove himself as a scorer (and all-round player) on the all-star circuit this spring, and he should give Arkansas an All-SEC type player from the word 'go'."
Arkansas has six top-100 players in the Class of 2022 coming in. Smith is the headliner, but Anthony Black and Jordan Walsh were also named McDonald's All-Americans. Smith, Black and Walsh could all start from Day One. 4-star Derrian Ford and 3-stars Barry Dunning and Joseph Pinion look like good evaluations by the Arkansas staff.
Brandon Miller (No. 13) and Jaden Bradley (No. 24) are the headliners of a strong Alabama recruiting class. Nate Oats and the Crimson Tide moved past Kansas for the No. 3 slot after the latest update. You can't overlook 6-foot-5 guard Rylan Griffen who is a top-40 player in the class. Forwards Noah Clowney (4-star) and Nick Pringle (No. 3 JUCO) form a deep Alabama class. Bradley might not be the highest-rated player in the class, but he could have his fingerprints all over Alabama's 2022-23 campaign.
"Make no mistake, Bradley can score if or when he needs to," Flaherty writes. " But the No. 3 point guard and No. 24 overall player, according to 247Sports, makes his hay by distributing and playing more of a pass-first role. Make no mistake: players like that can help their teams win a lot of games.
Kansas sharpshooter Gradey Dick earned a bump up in the latest rankings. The 6-foot-7 sniper was rated as the best shooter in the Class of 2022. So it's fitting that as assassin Ochai Agbaji walks out the door, Dick comes in to add some much-needed length and shooting to the perimeter.
"Circuit Scouting’s Mike Gribanov tweeted that Dick, 'has had one of the greatest shooting seasons in HS history," Flaherty writes . " Per Gribanov, that included making 53.6% of his spot-up and pick-and-pop 3-pointers, 56% of his off-screen 3-pointers and 41.3% of his off-the-dribble 3-pointers, all while taking an astounding 18 3-point attempts per 100 possessions. In other words, the 6-foot-7 wing doesn’t just make a high percentage of 3s, he takes a bunch of them (and a wide variety of them) as well.
But Dick is not coming to Kansas alone. Forward MJ Rice (No. 33) projects to be a major piece with the chance to play right away if both Christian Braun and Jalen Wilson stay in the 2022 NBA Draft. The additions of Ernest Udeh Jr. and Zuby Ejiofor mean Kansas has four top-50 players coming in next year. That's one heck of an accomplishment by Bill Self and the Kansas coaching staff.
Chris Beard has the No. 5 recruiting class in the country with two absolute superstars in Dillon Mitchell and Arterio Morris. Both should be in the rotation right away. 4-star Rowan Brumbaugh and 3-star Alex Anamekwe look like very nice evaluations. Mitchell has been tabbed as the best defender in the Class of 2022. You know that has Beard extremely excited about what he could do right away.
"Few have Mitchell’s overall upside as a defender, thanks to his athleticism that grades out among the best in this class," Flaherty writes . " Mitchell profiles as a bouncy defender who can lock down multiple positions as needed, particularly as he continues to fill out his long, 6-foot-7 frame. Mitchell’s offensive game has a bit more to go, though if he can jump passing lanes and help create havoc plays defensively, he could generate some points every game in transition."
Ohio State is losing eight rotation players, but Chris Holtmann has some really nice pieces in the Class of 2022. Ohio State has surged all the way up to No. 6 in the recruiting rankings. The job that Holtmann did with Malaki Branham this past season really paid off on the recruiting trail. Roddy Gayle Jr. (No. 42), Bruce Thornton (No. 46) and Brice Sensabaugh (No. 74) are three talented guards who are itching to follow in Branham's footsteps. Big man Felix Okpara (No. 63) is another nice piece that can learn behind soon-to-be-junior Zed Key.
This USC class could really be one of the best when it's all said and done. Kijani Wright is a top-50 forward who can earn an early role. Tre White skyrocketed up the latest rankings all the way up to No. 32. The 6-foot-6 wing is so smooth. But USC's entire class could hinge on big man Vince Iwuchukwu (No. 25).
"Iwuchukwu is a high-ceiling prospect who looks better than that ranking at times," Flaherty writes . " What’s missing is the consistency, and that’s something that Andy Enfield will try to develop. Iwuchukwu has a rawness to him, particularly from a skill standpoint. If he can continue to develop, if the game can slow down for him a bit — he can rush at times — and if he can continue to fill out his body, the Trojans could have another great center on their hands. But that development is only going to come with continued work.
Jalen Hood-Schifino (No. 23) and Malik Reneau (No. 34) really could change the complexion of Indiana basketball under Mike Woodson. The Hoosiers rallied out of a hole to make the NCAA Tournament, but making the tournament should be the rule, not the exception. Hood-Schifino and Reneau can take Indiana to the next level if they put it all together, and most importantly, each one could be a multiple-year difference-maker for Indiana.
"The No. 34 overall prospect in 247Sports' eyes knows how to play the game, but is more about making the right fundamental play than he is a jump out of the gym type who will wow NBA scouts with his athleticism," Flaherty writes about Reneau. "That won’t stop Reneau from scoring well out of the high and low posts at the college level."
Four-star, top-100 prospect Kaleb Banks is another really nice addition too.
Illinois coach Brad Underwood is starting to stack really talented recruiting classes. Skyy Clark took a slight dip in the updated rankings down to No. 31, but both Ty Rodgers and Jayden Epps have surged into the top-50. Those three top-50 prospects all have a chance to earn major roles right away. Rodgers and Epps could be poised to handle the basketball a ton, while Rodgers looks like a defensive stopper who can really transform into a terrific secondary playmaker on offense. Fellow four-star Sencire Harris also surged to No. 84 in the 2022 class. Underwood is reloading with premier talent.
Both Tarris Reed and Jett Howard earned well-deserved bumps in the final update. It's unclear what their early roles will fully entail. The 2022 NBA Draft decisions from Caleb Houstan and Moussa Diabate will go a long way in determining that. But Juwan Howard and the Michigan staff continue to recruit at a super high level. Dug McDaniel and Gregg Glenn dipped significantly in the update, but Reed and Howard really are the duo that could be the real superstars in the class. And we know that Juwan Howard will take big swings on guys and lean on his superb player-development chops.
