A license plate reader alerted officers to a passing stolen SUV. During a traffic stop, two men were arrested. One of them was wanted on seven warrants.

At 5:05 a.m. Sept. 7, police were called to a home on a report of a disturbance involving a man and two women.

It was learned that the man had been evicted from his Cleveland Heights home two days earlier and that one of the women had allowed him to store his belongings at her home while he found a new place to live.

That morning, the man told the woman she was being moody and an argument began. Sensing that the argument was getting heated, the woman told the man he had to leave and began, with the help of a woman that lives on the second floor, to put his belongings on the front porch.

One of the women tried to push the door closed behind the man as he left. He responded by pushing open the door.

In an effort to get him to leave, the woman who had the man’s belongings in her home grabbed a nearby fabric deodorizer spray and sprayed the man. He then took hold of a bottle of Clorox bathroom bleach cleaner and poured some on the woman’s work-issued computer.

Next, he threw bleach toward the neighbor. Bleach went into the woman’s eye. EMS treated her at the scene.

Police arrested the man for assault. The woman he assaulted with bleach asked for and received a protection order. The other woman requested to be attached to the protection order.

Police records show that officers have been called to the home 14 times because of the man, who has received numerous trespass orders to stay away from the address. The woman, however, continually rescinds those orders.

Receiving stolen vehicle: Superior Road

At 12:25 a.m. Sept. 2, police were alerted by a license plate reader about a passing Toyota SUV that had been reported stolen out of Cleveland.

Two police cars got behind the SUV before overhead lights were turned on and a traffic stop initiated.

The SUV came to a stop. When an officer walked toward the vehicle, commanding the driver to turn off the engine, the Toyota was driven away.

Police again followed, with sirens sounding, and again the driver stopped. The male driver and male passenger were both ordered to get out of the SUV and walk backward toward police.

The passenger informed police that he possessed marijuana.

Both men were arrested. The driver was charged with receiving stolen property and traffic offenses and was arrested on a warrant. The passenger was arrested on seven warrants and was charged with drug possession and receiving stolen property.

The upset passenger said he was given the SUV by an acquaintance and that he would harm that acquaintance after getting out of jail.

Disorderly conduct: Euclid Heights Boulevard

At 9:35 p.m. Sept. 3, police were dispatched to the B-side bar, 2785 Euclid Heights Blvd., on a report of a patron fighting with staff.

Officers arrived to find staff members holding the patron, a man, 22, on the ground outside the bar.

The bouncer told police that the patron was intoxicated and, when told to leave, he threatened the bouncer. The patron then took a bottle of vodka from his pocket and attempted to drink from it.

The bouncer began to escort the man to the door and the man responded by trying, several times, to punch the bouncer in the face. The staff removed the man from the bar and held him on the ground until officers arrived.

As officers escorted the man to a bench, they noticed that his breath smelled of alcohol and he was unsteady on his feet.

While the man spoke with police, he again took out a bottle of vodka. Police confiscated the bottle and arrested the man for disorderly conduct-intoxication.

Criminal mischief: South Taylor Road

At 7:25 a.m. Sept. 5, officers were called to Berkowitz-Kumin Funeral Home, 1985 S. Taylor Road, on a report of fresh graffiti painted on the building.

The man who called police pointed out that the word “goose” had ben painted on all sides of the building, a dumpster and a construction trailer parked on the property.

The man said “goose” and other words had also been painted on the building in recent times and had since been removed.

Surveillance video showed someone in a hooded sweatshirt and black pants spraying paint on the south side of the building.

Theft of firearm: Woodridge Road

At 6:30 p.m. Sept. 5, a woman went to the police station to report that her gun had been stolen from her cousin’s car’s glove compartment. The woman said she suspected her cousin’s nephew may have stolen the 9mm firearm.
